Programs and Initiatives
The Foundation is committed to improving the lives of families and children in our community through its major grants program and annual scholarships program.
The Foundation also provides funding and other support for the program initiatives of the Fairfield County Chapter of The Links. Recent programs include (i) a Fall symposium on educational disparity and minority youth that brought together a cross-section of stakeholders from education and the corporate community, as well as elected officials and local community organizations, (ii) an annual “Healthy Minds Reading Program” that encourages first graders at Geraldine W. Johnson public elementary school in Bridgeport, CT to read as many books during the school term and compete for prizes as part of an annual Reading Challenge, (iii) a Fall harvest health fair that addressed issues impacting families in the community such as heart disease, sickle cell, obesity and diabetes, and (iv) a poster art competition titled “Healthy, Active and Wise – Make Health a Habit”, which featured more than 100 submissions from participating schools and community groups that highlighted healthy and active lifestyles. The Foundation supports additional Chapter programs that foster cultural awareness and help children increase their knowledge of global issues impacting our society.
